You see, these two are not the same, even though they're frequently used interchangeably. Weight loss is a decrease in your overall body weight. This includes everything: fat, muscles, fluids, organs. It's the number you see when you step on the scale.
On the other hand, fat loss refers to the amount of body fat we lose. Losing body fat is what most people want to achieve when they talk about weight loss. It's all about reducing the amount of excess fat we carry, which is healthier for our bodies and also makes us look leaner and fitter.
Now, let's dive into how sleep impacts your fitness journey. You might be wondering, what does sleep have to do with fat loss or weight loss? Well, it has a lot to do with it. When we don't get enough sleep, our bodies can't function at their best.
Sleep deprivation can lead to hormonal imbalances, which can increase our appetite and cravings. This means we might end up eating more than we need, hindering our fat loss progress. Additionally, lack of sleep can also affect our energy levels, making it harder to stay active and burn off calories.
